Supplications for Hajj Pilgrims and Those Performing ‘Umrah

• At Safa and Marwah, one should face the Qiblah and say, لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير. لا إله إلا الله وحده أنجز وعده ونصر عبده وهزم الأحزاب وحده "No deity has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without any partner. To Him belongs the dominion, to Him all praise is due, and He has power over all things. No deity has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, aided His worshipping servant, and defeated the confederates alone." Repeat this three times and supplicate in between as desired.

• When drinking Zamzam water, one should supplicate for healing or any other good, as the Prophet (may Allah's salah and salam be upon him) said, "Zamzam is for whatever purpose it is drunk." Ibn ‘Abbas used to say when drinking Zamzam, اللهم إني أسألك علماً نافعاً ورزقاً واسعاً وشفاء من كل داء "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every disease."

• During Tawaf, one should say, اللّهُمَّ اغفر وارحم وأنتَ الأعزُّ الأكرمُ "O Allah, forgive and have mercy. Indeed, You are the Most Mighty and Most Generous." (Reported by at-Tabarani).

• Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, one should say, ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنه وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار ((Our Lord, we beseech You to grant us good in this world, grant us good in the hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the hellfire). (Reported by Abu Dawud).

• While performing Tawaf, one should say, سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا إله إلا الله والله أكبر ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله "Perfect is Allah, all praise is due to Allah, no deity has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power nor strength except by Allah." (Reported by Ibn Majah).

• Upon entering Al-Masjid Al-Haram, one should say, بسم الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، اللهم افتح لي أبواب رحمتك، أعوذ بالله العظيم وبوجهه الكريم وسلطانه القديم من الشيطان الرجيم. "In the name of Allah, and may salah and salam be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy. I seek refuge in Allah, the Most Great, and in His Noble Face and His Eternal Authority from the accursed shaytan."

• After assuming Ihram, it is prescribed to continuously say the Talbiyah, لبيك اللهم لبيك، لبيك لا شريك لك لبيك، إن الحمد والنعمة لك والملك، لا شريك لك "I obediently respond to Your call, O Allah, I obediently respond to Your call. I obediently respond to Your call, O Allah, You have no partner, I obediently respond to Your call. Verily, all praise, favour, and dominion are all due to You. You have no partner." Upon reaching the Ka'bah, one discontinues the Talbiyah.
