Adhkar before Sleeping

Adhkar before Sleeping

Say, ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the True Deity of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer (shaytan) who withdraws. The one who whispers into the hearts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.

Say, ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of whatever He has created, from the evil of the night when it grows dark, from the evil of those who practise witchcraft when they blow in the knots, and from the evil of an envier when they envy.

Allah is the greatest

Praise is due to Allah.

O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, entrusted my affairs to You, turned my face toward You, and I fully rely upon You, in hope and fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.

One recites Alif-Lam-Meem, the Revelation (as-Sajdah) and Blessed is He in whose Hand is the dominion (al-Mulk).

O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Master of all things — I bear witness that none is worthy of worship but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil within myself, from the evil of shaytan and his allies. And I seek refuge in You from bringing harm upon myself or causing harm to any Muslim.

All praise is due to Allah, who has fed us and given us drink, who has sufficed us and sheltered us. How many are there who have neither provision nor shelter?

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and the earth, Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything. The One who causes seeds to grow, the One who sent down the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. I seek refuge with You from every evil You control. O Allah, You are the First—nothing is before You; and You are the Last—nothing is after You; and You are the Most High—nothing is above You; and You are the Most Near—nothing is beyond You. Settle our debts for us and enrich us and protect us from poverty.

Allah is Absolutely Perfect.

O Allah, in Your name, I live and die.

O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the day You resurrect your servants.

O Allah, You created my soul, and You will take it. To You belongs its death and its life. If You keep it alive, then protect it; and if You cause it to die, then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You for well-being.

In Your name, my Lord, I lay down on my side, and by You I arise from it. If You take my soul, then have mercy on it; and if You return it, then protect it with that which You protect Your righteous servants.

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. They say: "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say: "We hear and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return." Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. It will have [the reward of] what it has earned, and it will bear [the consequence of] what it has committed. "Our Lord! Do not hold us accountable if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place upon us a burden like that which You placed upon those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with more than we have strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people."

Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever-Living, the One who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is after them. And they will never encompass anything of His knowledge except what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

(1) Say He is Allah (the) One. (2)The Self-Sufficient, Whom all creatures need, (3)He begets not nor was He is born, (4) and there is none equal to Him.
