The Prophet (may Allah’s salah and salam be upon him) said, "When night begins to fall, or when you reach the evening, keep your children indoors. That is because the shayatin come out at that time. Then when an hour of the night has passed, you may allow them out. Furthermore, close your doors and mention the name of Allah, for the shaytan does not open a closed door. Cover up your water containers and vessels - even by placing something over them - and mention the name of Allah, and extinguish your lamps.
